BURNS, Monsignor Bernard Joseph

At the Sault Area Hospital (General Site) on Thursday, November 26th, 2009, Monsignor Bernard Burns in his 82nd year. Dear son of the late Alexander and Margaret Burns. Beloved brother of Lucille (Flynn) Shangraw (Fred), late James (Lorna) and late Vincent (Regina). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Monsignor Burns was ordained to the priesthood in Kingston on May 1st, 1960 and was named a Monsignor in 2004. He served in parishes in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie. He became Pastor of Precious Blood Cathedral on September 3rd, 1985 and retired from active ministry on November 1st of this year 2009. Monsignor Burns will be sadly missed by his many friends and the parishioners he so loyally served for so many years. Funeral Mass with Most Rev. Jean-Louis Plouffe officiating. Interment in the Priest's Plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
